Lisbon

the romantic capital of light

Soak up the romantic atmosphere of Lisbon as Vinitur invites you to choose one of its hand-picked day trips around authentic neighbourhoods and historic monuments by ancient tramcar or typical cable car. Stop and savour a traditional cake and a drop of ginjinha, the local cherry brandy. Stroll along the riverside and enjoy lunch on the banks of the River Tagus. During the afternoon, visit one of the many fine museums or go shopping in the downtown Baixa or Chiado. The next day, travel up the coast to Cascais and Estoril, whose grand casino inspired 007 in Casino Royale. Marvel at the mysterious Sintra hills – World Heritage Property, that rise in the background, wrapped in a mystic green mantle that offers glimpses of royal palaces and a magnificent castle. Extend your stay by a day or two and explore the region of Setubal, with its vineyards, mountain and sea breezes. Travel a little further to the Alentejo, land of medieval towns and city-museums, of white houses of Moorish influence, of the tasty Mediterranean diet.

Porto

enticing city of wine

Allow Porto to captivate you with its merchant traditions and its charm as you choose one of Vinitur’s enticing one-day trips of the city and surrounding areas. Explore the nooks and crannies of the Historic Centre – World Heritage Property along the medieval riverbank of the Ribeira; stroll or take the tramcar along the enchanting banks of the River Douro. Lunch amid the hustle and bustle of the fishing port and in the afternoon, revel in the monastic silence of the historic Port Wine lodges. On a second day, escape to the Minho province, a region rich in medieval towns and villages nestling amid green vineyards and mountain landscapes, seeped in ancestral customs. Choose a longer one or two day excursion to travel upriver and explore the Alto Douro Winemaking Region – World Heritage Property – and discover a paradise for wine lovers, in the midst of breath-taking river and mountain landscapes, and rows and rows of terraced vineyards.
